Frequently Asked Questions

A Reiki practitioner is someone who has been “attuned” to be able to amplify Reiki energy through their hands and direct it through very light touch on or just above a client's body.  The client remains fully clothed and usually lays down on a Reiki treatment table with shoes removed. A session can last anywhere from 30 minutes to just over an hour and the lights are usually dimmed with soft music playing in the room.

Reiki is very different from massage or other body therapies because there is no physical manipulation of soft tissue, nor is there any movement required on the part of the client other than perhaps flipping over onto the back and/or stomach during a longer session. The client’s body acts like a sponge, soaking up the Reiki energy that is being directed toward it from the practitioner’s hands. In this way, Reiki is sometimes jokingly referred to as “lazy man’s tai chi,” as the same results are achieved: energy flows better and the client feels relaxed and balanced.

How Reiki is received by a client is as varied as there are people; however, oftentimes, clients will feel heat or tingling at the points where the practitioner’s hands are directing the energy. Sometimes people don’t feel anything at all; however, the Reiki is still making its way to the cells that need it the most. People tend to either fall asleep during sessions or occupy the space between wakefulness and sleep. Commonly, clients will lose track of time and may even have vivid dreams or imagery during the session. By re-establishing energy flow, Reiki sessions may also release trapped toxins, emotions, and memories. It is very normal to experience all sorts of emotions during or after a Reiki session, as the body finds balance again.

Reiki is a robust stand-alone therapy with the purpose of delivering restorative energy to clients. Psychic awareness and mediumship are separate applications that are not part of standard Reiki sessions, and which I do not offer clients.

You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to relax and breathe deeply. You do not need to remove any clothing for a Reiki session; however, it is recommended that shoes be taken off before laying on the treatment table.

I am truly blessed to be able to offer Reiki and Face Reading at an integrated wellness co-operative in downtown Rogers, Arkansas, called  Cove Collective, NWA. The space is beautiful, calming, and perfect for relaxation.

Yes, Reiki can be done remotely! This is known as distance healing, and it is just as effective as an in-person session. Details for remote sessions coming soon!
